How long have you worked in economic development?
23 years.
How did you enter the economic development profession?
I got into economic development because I wanted to move away from the corporate world and focus on helping individuals, young professionals, and small business owners. Recognizing that policy was the avenue to make a real impact, I seized the opportunity to contribute to a national development plan. That experience solidified my passion for economic development.
What is your favorite thing about working in economic development?
My favorite aspect of working in economic development is witnessing the tangible impact of our efforts on individuals and communities. Whether it’s seeing a small business flourish, witnessing job creation, or observing improvements in living standards, the ability to make a positive difference is incredibly rewarding.

Tell us about your favorite place/thing to do in your community.
As a newcomer to El Paso, I’ve quickly discovered some wonderful ways to spend my time in this welcoming community. One of my absolute favorite activities is trekking in the desert landscapes surrounding the city, especially during the amazing sun sets over Franklin Mountain, painting the sky with an orange hue. And when it comes to food, I enjoyed indulging Tex-Mex dishes and discovering hidden gems in local cafes. But what truly sets El Paso apart is its people—their warmth and friendliness have made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. And let’s not forget about the rural areas like San Elizario and Socorro, where I’ve had the pleasure of exploring charming art galleries, enjoying delicious meals, and sipping on local craft brews. In every corner of this city, there’s something special to discover, and I’m grateful to be a part of it all.
