George is an entrepreneur dedicated to impact, with a focus on strengthening the startup and innovation ecosystem in Hawaiʻi.

George Yarbrough co-founded Hub Coworking Hawaiʻi (formerly known as Impact Hub Honolulu) and launched Laulea Engineering, a boutique wastewater engineering company. Both ventures were created with the goal of building a better Hawaiʻi. In his most recent role as Associate Director of Innovation and Entrepreneur Programs at the University of Hawaiʻi Office of Innovation and Commercialization, George continues his passion for supporting startups and growing innovation networks across the islands.

His professional journey also includes international nonprofit and medical program leadership. With Operation Smile, George lived in Africa and the Middle East managing surgical programs for children born with cleft lips and palates. He later worked in medical response research with the U.S. Department of Defense’s Center for Excellence.

George earned a BA in Economic Geography from the University of British Columbia and a MS in Integrated Design, Business, and Technology from the University of Southern California.
