Alaxandria is excited about her project’s potential impact on the community of Portsmouth, Ohio's economic well-being and innovation ecosystem and to identify priorities for technology-based economic development. By leveraging technology, she believes this has the power to catalyze innovation, create job opportunities, and enhance overall economic prosperity. Her project perfectly intertwines her passion for technology, culture, and community development.

Alaxandria works at the intersection of Community Development, Technology, and Venture Capital. She is an ecosystem builder working to build and shape communities through technology-based economic development. Her work is an embodiment of how to leverage technology and culture for the economic advancement of underserved communities.

Alaxandria is the co-founder of Chi Tech Collective (CTC), a community of over 600 local technologists, founders, and funders based in her hometown of Chicago, IL. Through CTC, she curates programming and events on the south side for the Chicago tech ecosystem.

Project Title: 

Elevation of the Innovation District

In March 2023, the Kricker Innovation Hub at Shawnee State University initiated the Innovation District project, launching a Digital and Immersive Technology (DIT) Startup Accelerator with Build to Scale funding from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) for southern Ohio and northern Kentucky. To greater implement these efforts, the ERC Fellow will gather input from the strong network of existing partners and local stakeholders to develop a regional technology-based economic development strategy while driving phase two site development for a 0.6-acre site at 3rd and Chillicothe Street. This project will create an anchor for the tech ecosystem and workforce by recruiting more tech companies to hire and locate in newly developed office spaces.
